Last month was full of ups and downs for me. The very same day that I went on my first hot air balloon ride in Albuquerque, my sister-in-law passed away after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Life is like that. Just when you think you are on top of the world, life can smack you — hard.
It’s that way with communicating too. Some days it goes well – you do everything right and things seem to be going well and then out of the blue, something you said gets taken wrong, you are misunderstood, or you unknowingly offend someone. So, what do you do when that happens?
- First, give yourself a break. Sometimes things fall into place and sometimes they don’t.
- Second, pick yourself up, brush yourself off and get back out there! If something didn’t work, then for heaven’s sake try something else. Let yourself have a do over!
- And, most important: remember that every day is a brand new day. Your brand new day.
