Part of embracing gratitude is learning to give it regularly and freely. If you are looking for some ideas to say thank you beyond just saying it, here are my top 5 ways to get a little creative and personal.
1. Make a thank you card and write a brief note.
It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Just taking the effort to give something hand made is huge.
2. Remember a birthday, or other milestone.
People love to be remembered, especially by someone they don’t expect to hear from.
3. Give a small gift.
Try to make it personal, such as a favorite candy bar, flower, or coffee drink.
4. Say thank you publicly.
Go to the effort to say thank you in front of their peers, or better yet, their boss. Don’t you wish someone would do that for you?
5. One word: Food
This one is my favorite. Everyone loves a treat. Bring in some chips and salsa, cookies, brownies or other treat for an individual or group. Add a simple note like “you rock” or “thanks for all you do”. Even better, be specific about what you are grateful for!
These 5 simple ways to say thank you can be huge morale boosters at work and at home! Try one and watch what happens. Then make a plan to implement at least one idea with one person each week!
